SECI has been involved with numerous sites in the City of Chicago that have been impacted by low level radioactive waste from the former Lindsay Light Company. SECI has conducted detailed site investigations in conjunction with the United States Environmental Protection Agency to locate and isolate fill materials impacted with radioactive thorium waste. SECI has prepared Remedial Action Plans outlining the removal and confirmation sampling activities necessary for development of thorium impacted sites.

In addition to the Lindsay Light Company sites, SECI was the lead environmental consulting company in the remediation of the former Olin Chemical Company (former Blockson Chemical) site in Joliet, Illinois. The remedial efforts performed by SECI involved the assessment of the entire former manufacturing facility to locate and delineate the extent of residual radium and uranium contamination present on the property. SECI then developed the Remedial Action Plan and performed the remedial actions necessary to allow for development of property.
